The Paralegal Paradox – A Highly Rated Profession, But Underrated

You have your paralegal certification all done and then someone – in this case – come along and say you head the list as the most underrated job in the United States.

The paralegal profession has been growing steadily and so have the paralegal salaries.  They earn an average of around $47,000 and apparently suffer less work stress than other professions as well as enjoying a great employment rate.  Unemployment in the profession is only 4.6%, which is about half the overall unemployment rate.

Which begs the question:  why are paralegals underrated?

The CareerCast survey looked at jobs that were commonly overlooked but were somehow lurking beneath the radar.  Why?  The jobs are necessarily glamourous, but they’re not the worst jobs in the world by a very long stretch.  They are well paid, while not being over-the-top, and they have good employment.

But still the paralegals head the list.
